Responsiblity

Corporate Social Responsibility takes many forms and, in our minds, needs to be an active part of a company’s core business model. It has a positive effect on the lives of our employees, their families and our clients - which is why we are proud to say that CSR is the way we conduct business on a daily basis.

Giving Back

Giving has always been a tradition at The American Companies. Not just on the corporate end, but also among our employees as well. We are all in it together, because we care. For us charity goes beyond donating money - we are constantly looking for ways to invest our time and be responsible members of our community.

One of our commitments is to the Make a Wish Foundation. For the last 5 years we have been sponsoring an employee team “Team American” for the Make a Wish Foundation/Walk for Wishes in NJ with numerous employees participating.

Below are some of the other charities and organizations we support on a regular basis. Each of them has a meaning to someone in The American Companies, so please check them out because a better community creates better lives.

Dear Mr. Greenberg:

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you so much for your recent generous contribution to the Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles and specifically in support of the MFLA Covid-19 response efforts. Your support, along with the support of thousands of other fellow Angelenos in the region, continues to make sure that we can reach those who need it most. At this continuing moment of crisis in our city, your support is truly appreciated.

As you know, MFLA recently joined the City and Office of Mayor to launch two important new programs. SERVE will provide cash assistance to 4,000 food service workers impacted by the recent closures in line with public health guidelines. The Angeleno Connectivity Trust will provide free high speed internet to 18,000 students across Los Angeles, focused on foster youth, students with disabilities, and families living in transitional housing situations. If you know of any fellow Angelenos that may be able to benefit from these programs, please share the websites linked here for more information on each.

The Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles activated at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic to support our fellow Angelenos in partnership with the City. To date, we have provided masks for vulnerable populations, childcare for front line hospital workers at 15 hospitals in the region, immediate shelter for more than 1,100 domestic violence victims and their families, and partnering with the City to deliver 650,000+ meals to homebound seniors. In addition, the pilot Angeleno Card program supported more than 104,000 qualifying, low-income individuals and families who received a prepaid debit card to immediately be used for food and essentials. More information on the impact of our programs to date can be found here: MFLA COVID-19 PROGRAM IMPACT.

I remain humbled by the generosity shown by so many Angelenos like you who have stood up to support their neighbors in need. This unprecedented crisis continues to require all of us to work together. On behalf of the Fund and the thousands of Angelenos who we have supported because of your help, thank you.

Sincerely,
Deidre Lind
